Question 1

What is included in a furnace and duct cleaning?

Accepted Answer

Our complete furnace and duct cleaning includes cleaning all accessible supply and return vents connected to the furnace, along with the main ductwork. We use powerful truck-mounted vacuum equipment to place the system under negative pressure while compressed-air tools loosen and move accumulated dust and debris toward the vacuum for removal.

Question 2

How much does furnace and duct cleaning cost?

Accepted Answer

Our standard furnace and duct cleaning is $299 for homes up to 2,500 sq. ft. with one furnace. Larger homes from 2,501–3,500 sq. ft. are $349. We believe in straightforward pricing, so we don't charge based on the number of vents in your home. Homes over 3,500 sq. ft., multiple furnaces, or unusual systems may require additional pricing.

Question 3

Do you charge for every vent?

Accepted Answer

No. We don't believe you should have to count vents to figure out what your final bill will be. Our standard furnace and duct cleaning includes all accessible supply and return vents connected to the system.

Question 4

How often should furnace and ducts be cleaned?

Accepted Answer

There isn't one schedule that's right for every home. The amount of debris that accumulates depends on the home, renovations, pets, occupancy and other factors. Rather than relying only on a calendar, we recommend considering the condition of the system and whether significant dust or debris has accumulated.

Question 5

Doesn't compressed air just blow the dust around?

Accepted Answer

Not when the system is cleaned properly. Before we use compressed-air cleaning tools, the duct system is placed under negative pressure using our truck-mounted vacuum. The air tools loosen and move debris while the vacuum is operating to remove it from the system.

Question 6

Do I need to prepare my home before you arrive?

Accepted Answer

We ask that you provide reasonable access to the furnace and all supply and return vents. If furniture or belongings are covering vents, please move them where possible.

Because we use a truck-mounted vacuum system, we'll need to park the cleaning truck as close as reasonably possible to the best access point for your furnace. Please leave the driveway or closest suitable parking area available for our truck whenever possible. Moving personal vehicles before we arrive helps us get set up efficiently and minimizes the amount of hose we need to run through your home.

Our vacuum hose enters the home through a door or suitable window, which will need to remain partially open during the cleaning. Pets and young children should be kept safely away from the open entrance, hoses and work area.

Question 7

Do you need to turn my furnace off?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The furnace is shut down during portions of the cleaning process. We operate the furnace before and after cleaning to help confirm that it is operating properly when we arrive and when we're finished.

Question 8

What if my home has central air conditioning?

Accepted Answer

That's no problem, but please let us know that your home has A/C. The evaporator coil is located within the HVAC system and requires additional care when we're accessing and cleaning the ductwork.

Question 9

What areas do you service?

Accepted Answer

Atlas Indoor Air provides furnace and duct cleaning throughout Edmonton and surrounding communities. If you're outside Edmonton, contact us and we'll let you know if we service your area.

Question 10

Can you clean ducts during the winter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, within reasonable weather conditions. Extremely cold temperatures can create problems because the furnace must be shut down during portions of the cleaning and our equipment uses compressed air and exterior access. Service may need to be rescheduled during extreme cold.

Question 11

Can you sanitize the ductwork?

Accepted Answer

We offer an optional botanical treatment using Benefect Decon 30 after mechanical cleaning. It is applied to accessible HVAC duct surfaces where appropriate. We don't represent this treatment as whole-system HVAC disinfection or make health or indoor-air-quality claims about the treatment.

Question 12

Can you clean ducts if there is mold or asbestos?

Accepted Answer

We don't clean HVAC systems with known or suspected mold or asbestos contamination requiring specialized remediation. If we encounter something concerning during the job, we'll discuss it with you rather than simply continuing.

Question 13

Do you clean dryer vents?

Accepted Answer

Yes. One standard-access dryer vent is included with our complete furnace and duct cleaning service. Standalone dryer vent cleaning is also available starting at $99. Upper-floor, roof-access or unusually difficult dryer vents may require an onsite assessment.

Question 14

Can you clean a home with two furnaces?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our standard pricing includes one furnace and its connected duct system. An additional furnace can be added for $149, provided the systems are reasonably accessible. Larger or more complex homes may require a quote.

Question 15

What does duct cleaning do?

Accepted Answer

Over time, dust, debris, pet hair and other material can accumulate throughout your home's furnace and duct system. Professional duct cleaning removes that buildup rather than leaving it sitting inside the system. Keeping the ductwork and accessible HVAC components clean can also help support proper airflow and efficient operation. The goal is a cleaner HVAC system with less accumulated debris for your furnace and blower to move air through.

Question 16

How Can I book?

Accepted Answer

You can book or request service online, or call or text Atlas Indoor Air at 825-582-3828 (DUCT). We'll confirm the details of your home and pricing before your appointment.

Question 17

Is Atlas Indoor Air licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Atlas Indoor Air Ltd. is a locally owned and operated Edmonton-area company. We are properly licensed and carry commercial liability insurance. We perform furnace and duct cleaning using a large truck-mounted vacuum system combined with professional compressed-air cleaning tools. This allows us to place the duct system under strong negative pressure while accumulated dust and debris is loosened and removed from the home. We believe in doing the job properly, treating your home with respect, and providing straightforward pricing with no vent counting or surprise per-vent charges.

Question 18

How can I make payment?

Accepted Answer

We accept credit cards, electronic payments, cash and cheque. For convenient and secure electronic payments, we use Jobber Payments. A secure payment link can be provided by email or text, allowing you to pay directly from your phone or computer.

Payment is generally due upon completion of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

For approved commercial and property-management clients, invoicing and payment terms can be arranged.

Question 19

Do I need to be home for the cleaning?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. As long as we have arranged access to the home, furnace and all supply and return vents, you don't need to remain onsite while we work. We'll need any necessary keys, access codes or entry instructions arranged in advance, and pets should be safely secured.

If you won't be home, we're happy to coordinate access with you beforehand and let you know when the service is complete.
